Cassville, GA – Former State Senator Barry Loudermilk today received the endorsement of former Senate candidate Karen Handel.

Loudermilk won three of the four counties in the district in his Primary (including opponent Bob Barr’s home county, Cobb) and widely outstripped Bob Barr by 11 percentage points district-wide. Handel had by far the highest vote totals in the district’s fourth county – her home and most populous in the state, Fulton County.

“I had the pleasure of spending time with Barry and his family as I campaigned across the 11th District, and Barry is deeply committed to the people of the district and our state,” Handel said. “Barry is a solid conservative with smart ideas and the drive to go to Washington to be a fighter for the voters he represents.”

“Karen and Steve have become friends to Desiree and I. There is no doubt that she has been a leading conservative voice in Georgia and is incredibly popular in the district,” Barry said. “I look forward to her advice and help as we seek to even further broaden our support in Fulton and Cobb, where she is very well known and where she is a proven vote-getter.”

Handel finished a strong first in Fulton County, leading her opponents by 7% of the vote. She also ran strong in Cobb and Cherokee, achieving a virtual tie for first in both counties.

Handel was elected as Georgia’s first Republican Secretary of State and served as Fulton County Commission Chairman. She and her husband Steve live in Roswell.
